A joint Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Ma Lab in the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences and Wu Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the heart of New York City.
What We Do
Ma Lab focuses on innovating experimental and computational tools to investigate epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation in single-cells across dynamic cell fate transitions. Wu Lab studies the neural basis of decision-making and social behavior. For this position, we seek to leverage cutting-edge spatial technologies and mouse behavior models to gain deep insights of the genetic and epigenetic driver underlying cognition and behavior.
More specifically, Ma Lab is keen on developing experimental sequencing tools—SHARE-seq, MID-RRBS, and SurfaceChIP-seq —to profile the epigenomes and transcriptomes within rare populations, single-cells or in situ (Cell 2020/2023; Sci. Adv. 2018; Nat. Biomed. Eng. 2018; Nature 2022). We also build computational workflows (Nature Commun. 2020; Cell 2020; Nat. Methods 2020) and apply these tools to investigate cell fate determination (Nat. Neurosci. 2022; Nature 2021/2020). We will use these cutting-edge methodologies to study how molecularly-defined cell types contribute to the neural dynamics supporting cognition. Combining the expertise of two labs, this exciting new project will forge new links between multi-omics, neural representation, and behavior.
Your Qualifications
Applicants should have a recent PhD or MD/PhD in biology, neuroscience, genetics, genomics, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, computational biology, or related field. Candidates with experimental background is preferred. A computational background is not required but is highly recommended. He/she is expected to work independently and communicate with colleagues with varying expertise.
Applicants who are interested in this position should email 1) a brief summary of research interests 2) a CV, including a complete list of publications, 3) names and contact information of three references to Dr. Ma (sai.ma2@mssm.edu) and Dr. Wu (zheng.wu@mssm.edu). We look forward to seeing you in NYC!
